Here I Am, Lord

Oh Lord, here I am,
in the midst of this crowd.
Am I showing off?
Am I being fake?
Am I being led by fear?
Am I filled with terror?
What shall I do, Lord?

Yes, Lord, this unknown fear creeps in.
I don’t know where it comes from.
What shall I do, Lord?
I don’t know.
If I had known, I would have done…
I don’t know what sin I have committed,
what detestable things I am holding onto.

Lord, I turn to you.
For you are the one who is holding me.
You are my love.
You are my life.
You are my heart.
I lean on you.
O God, do not leave me alone.

My God is faithful.
He is right here,
comforting me,
leading me,
strengthening me,
filling me with love.

I turn to you, Lord.
I give all to you, Lord,
whether I am feeling it or not.
I pronounce it again and again: the Lord is my King.

I was dead, but you gave me this life.
I hold your hand, because you were holding me before I was born.
Thank you, my God.
Here I am.
